Valley first opened in 1941 as a fighter base. It was also a vital staging post for USAAF flights during WW2. |
After the war Valley lay disused untill 1951, when it then started operations under training command. Valley has remained in this role ever since, and has flown various types such as Vampires, Gnats, Hunters, and now Hawks. |

The buildings and layout of the technical, and domestic sites are intended to recognise the fact that this type of station could not function without the support of the many trades and functions such as catering, stores, and administration etc. These buildings and layout are not intended to be an accurate representation of this particular station. |
