Benson was once home to WW2 Fairey Battles, but was better known for its association with photo reconnaissance aircraft such as Spitfires and Mosquitoes. |

After the war, Benson became a major transport base, and home to the large fleet of Argosy aircraft. The Queens flight was also based here for many years, with Andovers, BAe 146's, and Wessex. |
Recently, the station has become home to the Puma fleet, as well as the University of London Air Squadron, the Oxford University Air Squadron, and No 6 Air Experience Flight. |
